The Reverend Dr. Wesley Doyle Stanfield, age 88, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, pastor, mentor and dear friend departed earth's temporal beauty for heaven's glorious eternal gain on May 12, 2014. "Stanfield," as he was affectionately known, was born and raised in LaFayette, Georgia (Walker County). He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother, James Clarence & Alvice Stanfield, sister, Kayra "Smit" Stanfield Clark and wife of 62 years, Samara Stanfield. Reverend Stanfield is survived by his wife, Shirley Miles Stanfield, son, Larry & Connie Stanfield, Georgia, daughter, Linda and Neil Burt, daughter, Lonna Hildreth, daughter, LeNaye & Ron Pearson, all in middle Tennessee and by marriage, son, Bryan & Claudia Miles and daughter, Gretchen & Scott Norman who reside in Georgia. Blessed with 11grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great- great grandchild, the family legacy has produced several church pastors and lay leaders who are following in Stanfield's footsteps in leading others to Christ. Reverend Stanfield graduated Bible Training School (currently known as Lee University in Cleveland, TN) and continued his education at Perdue University, Indianapolis, IN. He received a Doctorate of Divinity at Kings Way College in Des Moines, IA. Stanfield served as State Overseer for the Church of God in Montana, Wyoming and Colorado as well as Kansas, and served as an international evangelist, starting 29 churches during his lifetime. Stanfield pastored churches in Tennessee, Iowa, Kansas, Montana, North & South Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Having never retired, "because the calling and gifts of God are without repentance," today his ministry continues via a weekly world wide shortwave and internet radio ministry on WWCR (1300) that blankets the world with the Gospel through The Ministry of Sharing. With a servant's heart, his theme has been "Love, Life and Laughter" which demonstrated his heart and passion for others that endeared him to so many wonderful friends he treasured as precious jewels. Following a private graveside service, the family extends an invitation to join in a Celebration Jubilee with those he loved and touched over the years at The North Cleveland Church of God (423-476-5513) in the afternoon of May 31st.
