Harriet, I am so sorry that John has passed on. Never forget the day he showed up at my office for a film interview about the bankruptcy of what was then called the Nashville Motor Raceway. Lugging a huge camera on his shoulder this mountain of a man came in and said Rudy was on the way but he really didn't need him to get it done so I said roll 'em. He turned on the camera, asked the questions, I gave him the answers and he took off for the station with the film. We became friends (as did you and I. I'll miss him. What a wonderful character. PS: Rudy never showed up. We didn't need him anyway ;-) Love Caldwell

There are few people you meet throughout your life that you immediately like. John was one of those rare individuals. My sympathies to Harriet.

If anyone was fortunate to know "Big John" you're a better person for it. Eventhough we'll miss him, at least we know God needed him home. Working with John has been one of the great pleasures of my life. We had nothing but FUN traveling to shoots all across the country and I'll always smile whenever I think of him. May God continue to fill your hearts with joy and rejoice in the man that He allowed all of us to know.

I didn't know John as well as some of my friends in the sports broadcasting business, but I spent enough time with him to appreciate what a kind, talented and extremely witty gentleman he was. The next time I attend a Titans practice I will truly miss his smiling face...just a wonderful individual.

John was a good man and everybody's friend. He will be dearly missed by the MTSU Sports Medicine Department. I knew John since my Vandy days as a student athletic trainer and when I returned to Tennessee to work at MTSU he was filming a spot for the Coach's show, it made my day to see a old friend.I will miss his Ice Cold Lemonade he sold at the State Basketball Tourny. Our thoughts and prayers will be with the family!!! God Bless John Wilson and his family! Joe-Joe Petrone and Family

I was saddened when I heard the news about John and felt the loss to his family and the television world in middle Tennessee. I worked with John at Ch 4 in the late 1970's and early 1980's. I remember how he enjoyed his work and the love of his family. I remember when he would be editing a story and several people would shout to him to please turn off his watch alarm they all knew he could not hear the high pitch of the alarm.

I belive one of the greatest things I can say about John is that he knew people at the top of the ladder, and people who are clinging desperately to the bottom rung, and he treated them all the same. I owe so much of my professional sucess to the things that John shared with me, and I owe so much of the person I've become to the time I shared with John. I think we have all had my better lives because we knew John Wilson. I can't wait to see him again...
