Donald was in my Literary Imagination class. He always made me feel so welcomed and accepted. He was always so kind and loved the book we were reading. We emailed some back and forth and he gave me so many resources, I have no doubt I'll succeed in the class because of his help. I only wish I could've gotten to know him better before his passing. What a kind soul to this earth.

I was so privileged to know Don. He was my student, but I learned more from him than he could have known. He was tremendously supportive of everyone who came into his orbit. And he was a delightful traveling companion, the day we went down to Dayton TN in July 2018 for the Scopes Re-enactment. Don will be with me forever, in the classroom and beyond.

Also: besides planting a tree, I know Don would be deeply gratified by any donations in his name to support medical research, immigrant and minority rights, and libraries. Most of all, I think, paying kindness forward would be the best tribute to his magnanimous spirit.

So sad to hear of Don's passing. I worked with Don in corporate systems when he first started at HCA. Don always had a great attitude and was a pleasure to be around. He was a good man. Prayers for the family.

I am so saddened to hear the news of Don's passing. I met Don when I started at HCA Healthcare in 2012. We worked together for nearly 2 years on the Credentialing team before he retired. Don was quick to offer me guidance and support, answering any question, no matter how small. As a freshly graduated college student with almost no work experience, I was so grateful for his guidance, mentorship and friendship. Don was one of the kindest gentleman I have ever met. We shared an interest in learning to speak Spanish and spoke on that topic often. At work, Don made every customer calling in for support feel like they mattered, not only resolving their issues, but also by being personable and kind. His memory and legacy of superior customer service, kindness, and support will live on in the employees and customers of HCA Healthcare that he touched, including myself. You will be so missed Don!

Wow, what sad news to hear today. I worked with Don for 4 years before he retired. He was one of the sweetest people that I believe I've ever run across. He always had something uplifting to say and a smile on his face. He worked diligently to make our customers feel cared for. As I read over the words here, I'm reminded of how excited he was to go about learning and reading in his retirement. Seems I remember he was going to work on a book. If he wrote it, I would love to have a copy. Don was absolutely a kind soul, our company already lost his beautiful sunshine years ago, and now the world has lost another beaming, colorful light! But Heaven rejoices and he is home. Many prayers to Don's family, you were truly blessed to have him. May peace be in your hearts. -Penny Cameron

Don and I worked on the same support team for a few years. And, we were both from DE. You don't run into a ex-pat Delawarian everyday. Though, we never socialized outside of work at HCA, when I think of Don it is not about work. When I've remembered Don, I remember his activism and our conversations about politics and current events. When he retired I really missed these conversations, because they were so compassionate, enlightening, and diverse. He was a caring, loving person. I am so sorry for the loss of your father and your husband.

I worked with Don for almost 10 years and the best way I can describe Don is he was always a true gentleman. He always was professional but more importantly he made you feel good when you talked to him. He is one of those people who pass through your life but you always remember because of the way he made you feel. He made everyone he came in contact with and the world just a little better.

I'm sad to hear of Don's passing. I worked with Don for several years at HCA. I always enjoyed talking with him, his smile, and positive attitude. He was an encourager to many, sending a note occasionally at just the right time. I'm sorry for your loss and pray that you'll be comforted by your fond memories of him.
