Being the only son of my father, David Welsh, there are too many memories to capture in a small book. But on the following pages, I'll attempt to give insight to the man that I grew up with and the times our family shared.

Dad was a master horseman. He trained horses for over 40 years until the spirit of our Lord completely changed his outlook on life and he spent the last two decades of his life serving the Lord and being a witness for Jesus Christ.

David began showing horses in East Tennessee where he met a young lady from Greeneville named Ethel Puckett who was living with foster parents Ben and Bonnie Hashe. Ben owned horses also and competed at the local shows. Ethel was a Ribbon Girl at a show when she first met David. On July 17, 1958 they married and started a life together.

Dad was born on September 12, 1937 to Hallard Welsh and Hazel King Welsh in Strawberry Plains Tennessee. He grew up with 2 brothers and 3 sisters. His early life was like most from his generation when times were hard but family support was strong, especially from his Christian mother. Dad graduated from Farragut High School in Knoxville and was voted "Most Likely to Succeed". After a year at the University of Tennessee, he returned to the farm to work with the horses that his stepfather had.

Dear Ethel,
I was so saddened to hear about your loss and regret I did not get to pay my condolences yesterday in person. David had such a sweet spirit and was a great example to many. I so enjoyed the week I got to spend with you both on our mission trip. I received so much more on that trip than I ever invested. And part of that was the blessing of time with you both. Love Dianna

We have loved Bro. David since we first started to worship at WOC in January of 2003. He was always such a joyful sight to behold and to hear him in his position on the walk at the entrance to the children's spaces. We will always remember those days and we will miss him very much,
May God's peace be with you , Myrtle and you beautiful family.

I will always remember David's big smile and warm hello. Memories of him greeting folks at Easter services, driving the tractor for Hoedown, working in the barn to prepare for worship team events and him just always being there at church warm my heart. What an example of the love of Jesus oozing out of a fully devoted follower of Christ. I sure will miss him!

David taught life lessons wherever he was and wherever he went! Devoted to things most important, God was his pilot. David seemed to always be looking above. Because he was never without the perfect 'Hello' you knew he would speak to you really interested in knowing more about how your day was going. He cared with a bigness!
He has left several sets of footprints now in place and his example will be followed well without a doubt. He is one of those 'most admired.'

Mrs. Ethel, I wanted to offer my sympathy to you and your family at this time. I will NEVER forget when you and Mr. David took me and my kids, Katie and Kip, under your wings when my husband was deployed for a lengthy time during Operation Iraqi Freedom. You called us regularly, loved on us, invited us over to your home, and truly were Angels to us. We had no family in Murfreesboro or nearby. You both forever left beautiful Christlike imprints on my heart and I've always been grateful for your thoughtfulness shown to us. Bless you as you say goodbye but rejoice knowing your kind husband is indeed now with the Angels in heaven. Thinking of you and thanking you once again for being such a servant and example to my family during our difficult time several years ago.
