James E. Carver, age 83, of Murfreesboro, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. Mr. Carver was a native of Nashville and longtime resident of Rutherford County. He was a member of Bridge Avenue Church of Christ, retired from Aramark and a veteran of the United States Army where he received the WWII Victory Medal. Mr. Carver was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Cora Mays Carver; wife and mother of his children, Christine Carver, and wife, Mary Ruth Sneed Carver; grandchildren, Kelly Lee Ross and Eric Patterson; stepson, Phillip Sneed; sisters, Sarah Lindsey, Frances Jones and Elizabeth "Bubba" Brimm. He is survived by his son, Jimmy (Dawn) Carver; daughters, Jennie (Ronnie) Ross and Martha Tucker; step daughter, Janis (Kenneth) Patterson, all of Murfreesboro; nine grandchildren, Gary, Matt, Mark Ross, Timmy and Chris Tucker, Christy Smotherman, Jamie and Ellen Carver, Tiffany Patterson; five great grandchildren, Kayla and Tyler Tucker, Isabella Smotherman, Gracyn Ross, Maili Minneker; one great great grandchild, Rylan Minneker. Visitation with the family will be 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm Monday, July 18, 2011 at Murfreesboro Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 10:00 am at Murfreesboro Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Carver, Bro. Frank Neal, Bro. Tim McElroy officiating. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to all of the nurses at MTMC and to Dr. Robert Cleveland
