Obituary of Marjorie James Taylor

Obituary for Marjorie James Taylor Longtime former Alabama resident, Marjorie James Taylor, age 91 and 11 months, passed away on March 11, 2015, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, where she had been a resident since 1986. Mrs. Taylor was born in Franklin County, Alabama, on April 11, 1923. Mrs. Taylor worked mostly in her home over the years. While living in Alabama, she did some work in the public school lunch systems, a senior citizens program and day care for children. She enjoyed cooking, trying new recipes, gardening, canning and freezing food for her family to enjoy. Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Church of Christ both in Alabama and Tennessee. While serving as an active member, she opened her home and extended her hospitality to visiting ministers for gospel meetings in Alabama. She was always supportive to her loving husband while he served as an elder in their work for the church. Prior to her failing health, she attended and was a member of the Cason Lane Church of Christ in Murfreesboro. Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Taylor. She is survived by son, Hoyt Taylor and wife, Linda of Raleigh, North Carolina; daughter, Geraldine Pennington of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; grandson, Chad Pennington and wife, Kelly and a new great-granddaughter, Haven Marie Pennington of Dallas, Texas as well as several nieces. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Della James; 3 sisters, Thelma Taylor, Ruby Sparks and Ruth James. A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2015, 2 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville with Jackie Richardson officiating. The visitation will be prior to the service from noon until time for service at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Franklin Memory Gardens.
