Obituary of Byron Knight

Sales manager, gentleman farmer, volunteer-extraordinaire passed away January 11, 2007 to be with his lord. Born May 22, 1917 in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania to Byron and Mary Olive Knight. Mr. Knight was preceded by his parents; brothers, Dutch and Pete,sisters, Mable and Velma, brothers-in-law Bud and Joe, and sisters-in-law Elsie and Sophie. Mr. Knight is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ethel Green Knight; his daughter, Janet Knight Borchert; son-in-law, Charles Borchert; grandchildren, David and Kim Bove; James and Yoko Bove; Jennifer and Ken Haberkorn, Shane and Lance Borchert; great grandchildren, Alexandra Barnett; Lisa and Hailey Bove, Julia and Kyle Haberkorn, Megan Borchert; sisters, Florence Orr and Mary Ellwood; brother-in-law Robert Orr and many nieces, nephews and friends. After serving in the 12th Air Force in Italy during World War II, he started working for Cities Service Oil (Citgo) as a station owner in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; He eventually became a sales manager for a five state area. After retirement, he and Ethel moved to Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania where he continued to volunteer at the nursing homes where he brought his wonderful smile and flowers; Mr. Knight became an Active Aging Board member; he delivered meals on wheels; he was Past president of Kiwanis, and a member of the Masonic Lodge #473; American Legion. He was also elected to the office of ruling elder in the Presbyterian Church, at the age of 25, and has served faithfully since. He has always been willing to share the bounty of his vegetable garden with others and to offer a helping hand whenever there is a need. The Knight family requests you to join them for his celebration of life Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Rt. 19 Washington Rd, Canonsburg, Pennsylvania at Chartiers Hill United Presbyterian Church.
