Obituary of Norman Harper

Norman Dean Harper, 78 of LaVergne passed away Thursday, June 09, 2011 at Alive Hospice at St. Thomas. Mr. Harper was born in Nashville to the late William Iley and Artie Hadley Harper. He was a member of Mission Church of Christ and a veteran of the United States Army and was a past employee of Textron Aerostructures. Mr. Harper was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Chris Parker, several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Harper of LaVergne; daughters, Sherrie Parker of Smyrna; Barbara (Ruben) Whitaker of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Karen West; Norman Hanks; Caleb Hanks; Jeff Harrell; Matthew Parker; 9 great grandchildren; sisters, Ann Crawford of Arkansas; and Gladys Rader of Hartsville. Visitation with the family will be Friday, June 10, 2011 from 4:00pm - 9:00pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 10:00am at Murfreesboro Funeral Home with Bro. Foy Smith and Donnell Harper officiating. Burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be Matthew Parker, Caleb Hanks, Jeff Harrell, Johnny Rader, Buddy Rader, David Rader, and Michael Pentecost. Honorary pallbearers will be Donnell Harper, Gene Harper, Dewey Harper, Joe Locke, T.B. Langford, Elders and Deacons of Mission Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to Mission Church of Christ, 102 Joyner Drive, Smyrna, TN 37167.
