Mattie Bell Smotherman Robinson (Ma B), born November 28, 1925 to the late Roy and Myrtle Bryant Smotherman, passed away Monday, August 02, 2010 at the age of 84. She had a long fight with Alzheimers.
Mattie was a lifelong resident of Rutherford County, living most of her adult life in the Barfield Community. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William, Tommy and Sam Smotherman; sister, Marie Lewis Wilson.
She will be greatly missed by her husband of 61 years, Richard A. Robinson. Mattie was well known for her beautiful flowers, especially Iris which filled her yard each spring and summer. She made many friends as she welcomed anyone to stop and see her flowers and after gave them Iris bulbs for their own flower beds.
She raised her own five children and any other young person who needed a home or a place to stay for a while. For many years she ran a day care in her home and loved the numerous children she cared for. She will always be "Ma B" to those children and their families.
Mattie was an active and faithful member of the Church of Christ. She and her family worshipped many years with the Windrow congregation and in later years at Deason Church of Christ. Her beautiful voice and ways will be welcomed by the angels in heaven.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimers Association or the National Kidney Association of Middle Tennessee.
