Obituary of Shirley Jones

Shirley A. Jones, 67, of Nashville, passed away Monday, July 26, 2010 at Centennial Medical Center. Shirley was born in Cannon County to the late Carl Vernon Spry and Leona Crystal Duke Spry. She was a 1960 graduate of Howard High School, a member of Eleventh Street Church of Christ and retired from Sears and Roebuck. Shirley began her bluegrass career with her son as the Plantation Bluegrass over twenty years ago and later played with Lonnie Jones and Hard Drive Bluegrass Band. Shirley was preceded in death by parents and her sister, Nora Fay Spry. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Craig and Tracy Irwin of Mt. Juliet; granddaughter and her husband, Kayla and Eric Junkin of Decatur, AL; great grandchildren, Zoey and Zia Junkin; brothers, Ollen (Martha Jo) Spry of Manchester, O'neail (Wilma) Spry of Manchester, Ronnie (Betty) Spry of Murfreesboro; sisters, Vetrice (Farris) Goines of Woodbury, Evelyn (George) Barnes of Greenbriar, Joyce Smith of Antioch. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Wednesday from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Thursday at 11:00 am at Murfreesboro Funeral Home with Rev. Don Herron and Bro. Bill Hassell officiating. Burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
