Glenis Allen Waters, age 90, passed away at the Northside Healthcare Center Sunday, May 07, 2006. She was born November 18, 1915 in Sand Mountain, Alabama. She lived in Murfreesboro and was retired from Hancock Fabrics. Mrs. Waters previously owned Waters Grocery located at the corner of Halls Hill and Lascassas Pike, and at Lebanon Road. A street located in the North Murfreesboro area, Glenis Drive, is named after Mrs. Waters. She was a member of the Third Baptist Church. Mrs. Waters was preceded in death by her husband, Roy H.Waters; parents, Thomas and Georgia Garrett Allen; 3 brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Marie Waters King (Linsey) of Murfreesboro; son, Jack Waters of Costa Rica; grandchildren, Dawn Drake Amos of Murfreesboro and Kisondra Waters of Fresno, California; great granddaughter, Kendall Amos of Murfreesboro; sister in laws, Sibyl Shipp of Donelson, Elnora Waters of Tullahoma, Kitty Waters of Atlanta, Georgia, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Waters will be Thursday 2:00 p.m., May 11, 2006 at Murfreesboro Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Hutson officiating and burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Marion Pitts, Buddy Drake, Jim Waters, Mark Waters, Daniel Woodard, Mike Warren. Visitation with the family will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at Murfreesboro Funeral Home, 145 Innsbrooke Blvd, Murfreesboro, 615-896-2229.
