Currey, Eathel Louise Claiborne., age 88, of Murfreesboro, died May 7, 2011 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro. Born in Macon County, TN she lived in Portland, TN, Nashville, TN, Memphis, TN and Dalton, GA before moving to Murfreesboro in 2009. She moved to Dalton, GA in 1979 when she retired from MFA Oil Company in 1979. She was preceded in death by her parents Marvin and Susie (Dillahay) Claiborne, brothers William Claiborne, Raymond Claiborne, Douglas Claiborne and sisters Nadine Claiborne and Laura (Chester) Hill. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Meyer of Murfreesboro, grandsons Keith (Lisa) Brent and Carl (Bucky) Brent of Murfreesboro, great-grandsons Chris (Nikki) Brent of Pegram, Justin Brent, Stratton Brent, Tyler Brent and Stephen Brent of Murfreesboro and great-great granddaughter Claire Brent, Natalie Brent and Kate Brent of Pegram. She is also survived her brother Edgar (Cathy) Claiborne of Pembroke Pines, FL, Winford Claiborne of Fayetteville, TN, Charlie (Polly) Claiborne of North Las Vegas, NV, Lucien (Ellen) Claiborne of Dalton, GA, Garvin (Beverly) Claiborne of Hendersonville, TN, sister Wilma (Ervin) Hill of Neosho, MO, brother-in-law Chester Hill of Mendon, TN and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ all of her life and was most recently a member of Riverbed (formerly South Bypass) Church of Christ in Dalton, GA. The funeral service will be 11:00 am Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the Murfreesboro Funeral Home with Bro. Roger Mackenzie officiating. Graveside service and burial will be 3:00 pm Tuesday in Corinth Cemetery in Portland, TN.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm Monday, May 9, 2011 at Murfreesboro Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Freed-Hardeman University, Memphis School of Preaching and East Tennessee School of Preaching.
