Obituary of Sarah Goodwin

Mrs. Sarah Goodwin, 85, of Murfreesboro, passed away Friday, May 08, 2009 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. Mrs. Goodwin was a native and life-long resident of Rutherford County. She was a member of Kingwood Heights Church of Christ, United Daughters of Confederacy and a founding member of Republican Women of Rutherford County. She was a former State Committee Woman for Rutherford County Republican Party and veteran of the United States Women's Army Corps. Mrs. Sarah taught at Central High School and Oakland High School in the late 1960's and early 1970's and was a member of ADK. Mrs. Goodwin was preceded in death by her parents, Houston and Nora Westbrooks Jones, and her loving husband of 51 years Carl E. Goodwin who passed away April 15, 2009. She is survived by her daughter, Bambi Goodwin; granddaughter, Terah Turner; grandsons, Michael and Matthew Turner; all of Murfreesboro; sisters, Geneva Smith of Shelbyville; Estelle Potts of Dallas; Dorothy Baird of Milton; Sug Rankhorn of Franklin; and brother, Wallace Jones of Shelbyville. Visitation with friends will be Monday, May 11, 2009 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home. Memorial service to follow at 5:00 pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Mullins and Bro. Tony Holt officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association and the American Parkinson Disease Association.
