Obituary of Robert Booker

Robert W. "Bob" Booker, age 84 died Saturday, September 27, 2014. Robert Witmer Booker was born May 7, 1930 at Grafton, North Dakota to John Derwin and Pauline Witmer Booker of Neche, North Dakota. He attended school in Neche and after graduating from Neche High School, he attended the University of North Dakota, where he graduated with a degree in General Industrial Engineering in 1952. He then entered the U.S. Air Force as a Lieutenant. After serving two years in the military, he was employed by a civilian contractor at Arnold Engineering Development Center near Tullahoma, Tennessee where he worked until his retirement in 1992. In 1973 he married Mary Alice Nunley of Summitville, Tennessee. They resided in Tullahoma, Tennessee until 2002 when they moved to Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He was a member of Fellowship Methodist Church in Murfreesboro. He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Alice; two children, Emily Ann Booker and Robert Glenn Booker of Nashville. Tennessee; two stepdaughters, Karen Elaine Sanders and Gena Denice Hice of Tullahoma; and sister Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Booker Nielsen of Lincoln, Nebraska; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Derwin and Pauline Witmer Booker. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 30 from 4:30 to 8 PM and on Wednesday, October 1 at 10:00 AM at Murfreesboro Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 11 AM at Murfreesboro Funeral Home Chapel, Murfreesboro, Tennessee with Bro. Don Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery in Warren County, Tennessee Memorials may be made to Fellowship Methodist Church.
