Mary Gladys Sledge, 87, of Murfreesboro, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014 at her residence. Mrs. Sledge was a native and life long resident of Rutherford County. She was a homemaker and a member of Oaklands Baptist Church. Mrs. Sledge was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Jefferson and Florence Willie Jernigan, husband, Charlie Applin Sledge who passed away April 14, 2014, son, Rev. Randy Sledge, Brothers, TR and Billy Jernigan, sisters, Vergie Lee Bailey and Pauline Priest. She is survived by her son, Nathan (Norma) Sledge of Nolensville; daughter, Becky Roden (Roy Monroe) of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Colby Sledge (Lindsey); Micah Sledge (Lindsay); David Roden; Amanda Sledge; Nicholas Roden; Brooke Sledge; daughter-in-law, Brenda Sledge of Murfreesboro; brother, Elvis Jernigan of Murfreesboro. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, June 4, 2014 from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home. Graveside service will be Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 2:30 pm at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Bro. Jim Frazier officiating. In lieu of flowers family ask for donations be made to Sledge Family Memorial Fund in the name of Nathan Sledge, LifeWay Credit Union, One LifeWay Plaza, Nashville, TN 37234. The family would like to say a special thanks to her caregivers, Kim Calderon and Amy Hardman.
