Obituary of Charlie Sledge

Charlie Applin Sledge, 92, of Murfreesboro, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Sledge was a native and life long resident of Rutherford County. He was a member of Oaklands Baptist Church. He earned an Honorary Master Degree of Military Arts and was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Sledge was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Nathaniel and Sally Williams Sledge, son, Rev. Randy Sledge, sister, Sue Hollis, brothers, John Sledge, "Doc" Sledge, Cliff Sledge and Shelton Sledge. He is survived by his wife, Mary Sledge of Murfreesboro; son, Nathan (Norma) Sledge of Nolensville; daughter, Becky Roden (Roy Monroe) of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Colby (Lindsey) Sledge; Micah (Lindsay) Sledge; David Roden; Amanda Sledge; Nicholas Roden; Brooke Sledge; sister, Ada Banks of Manchester; three nephews; six nieces; daughter in law, Brenda Sledge of Murfreesboro. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 12:00pm - 2:30pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home Graveside service will be Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 3:00pm at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Bro. Jim Frazier officiating and with military honors. In lieu of flowers family ask for donations be made to Sledge Family Memorial Fund in the name of Nathan Sledge, LifeWay Credit Union, One LifeWay Plaza, Nashville, TN 37234.
