Obituary of Alton Duke

Alton Duke 81 of Woodbury, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at Kindred Hospital. Mr. Duke was a member of Iconium Church of Christ. He was a member of the Cannon County Property and Equalization Board and a past board member of Woodbury Livestock Barn and Cannon County FHA. Mr. Duke was preceded in death by parents, Joe and Claudie Duke, brothers, Hilton Duke and Farris Duke; sisters Carmine Drennon and Leona Spry. He is survived by wife, Lucy Duke of Woodbury; son, Steve (Linda) Duke of Woodbury; grandchildren, Michael (Tiffany) Duke of Woodbury; great grandchildren, Gavin Duke, and Caden Duke; sisters, Jewell Christian of Manchester, Norene Holt of Woodbury, Glera Presley of Manchester, Roberta Todd of Manchester, and Lera Whitteymore of Michigan; brothers Wiley Duke of Manchester and Wendell Duke of Manchester. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, July 17, 2008 from 2:00 pm - 9:00 pm and Friday, July 18, 2008 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm at Iconium Church of Christ in Woodbury. Funeral service will be Friday, July 18, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Iconium Church of Christ with Bro. Bob Deason officiating. Burial will follow at Prater Cemetery. Pallbearers are Danny Powell, David George, James B. Jernigan, Glen Davis, and John Henderson. Those wishing may send condolences online at www.murfreesborofuneralhome.com
