Watlington, Linda Witherspoon-of Franklin, TN passed away after a lengthy illness on June 15, 2008. Linda is survived by her daughter, Lisa Thompson (Brent); granddaughter, Gabrielle Thompson; caring Aunt and Uncle, Hanna and Don Witherspoon; brother, Gene (Libby) Witherspoon; nieces, Jennifer, Casey, and Julia; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Linda, 60, is predeceased by her husband, Joseph Watlington, a Chemistry Professor at Vol State Community College in Gallatin, TN and originally of Jackson, TN, and parents Melba and Carter Witherspoon of Centerville, TN.
Born and raised in Hickman County, TN, Linda most recently was the Director of the RN-BSN Nursing Program at Aquinas College, Nashville. One of Linda's many accomplishments was attaining her PhD in Nursing in 2003 from University of Alabama in Birmingham.
Linda was loved by every friend, patient, and student whose life she touched. Her caring love is cherished by all.
Memorial services will be held graveside of her parents at Shipp's Bend Cemetery in Centerville, TN at 11:00 am on Monday, June 23, 2008 and graveside of Joseph Watlington at Ebenezer Cemetery, Jackson, TN at 3:00 pm on Monday, June 23, 2008.
In lieu of flowers, Linda has requested donations be made to the Joseph Watlington Scholarship Fund at Vol State Community College, Gallatin, TN at (615) 230-3506 or Alive Hospice at (615) 896-4663.
