Hugh Phillip Harris, 81, of Murfreesboro, passed away Sunday, September 01, 2013 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. Mr. Harris was born in Christiana to the late LD and Rose Lee Harris. He was a member of Sharpsville Church of Christ, past employee of Rutherford County Highway Department and past Captain with Murfreesboro Fire Department, last working at The Stoneman. Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Cherokee Rose Young; sister, Elizabeth Beechboard; brothers, LD Jr, Raymond, Gilbert and Tillman Harris and an infant brother. He is survived by his wife, Cora Lee Carter Harris of Murfreesboro; children, Phillip (Jackie) Harris of Christiana, Gary (Lisa) Harris of Murfreesboro, Pamela (David) Young of Morrison; Michael (Cathy) Harris of Murfreesboro and Steve Harris of Woodbury; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, September 03, 2013 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Wednesday, September 04, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home with Bro. Roy Robinson and Bro. Franklin Brown officiating. Burial to follow at Spence Harris Cemetery.
