Obituary of Ray Rice Sr

Ray Rice, Sr, age 92, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Lincoln Medical Center in Fayetteville. Mr. Rice was born in Ripley, TN to the late Jesse Clinton Rice and Viola Hancock Rice and resident of Murfreesboro before moving to Fayetteville. He was a veteran of the US Navy and Army, a member of Beechgrove Cumberland Presbyterian Church, attended Gum Springs Baptist Church in Flintville and past Superintendent with Stewart Air Base. Mr. Rice was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie F. Rice; granddaughters, Melissa Ashby and Leslie Rice; great grandsons, Treet Ashby and Tyler Allen Short. He is survived by son, Ray Rice, Jr of Murfreesboro; daughter, Linda Sue (Randy) May of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Amy (Barry) Carlton of Estill Springs, Melody (Dave) Wilson of Murfreesboro; great grandchildren Corey Womack of Tullahoma, Tucker Carlton and Tanner Carlton of Estill Springs, David Randall Wilson of Murfreesboro; great great grandson, Ethan Short of Manchester. Visitation with the family will be Monday, January 21, 2013 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home with Pastor Winfred Stayton and John Vile officiating. Burial will follow at Beechgrove Cemetery.
