Maxine Joan (Merrill) Key, age 75, of Smyrna, passed away Monday, January 28, 2008 at NHC Healthcare. Mrs. Key was born in Michigan to the late Joseph Alfred and Iva Chloe Rosenberger Merrill. She was a longtime resident of Smyrna. She was a retired registered nurse last working at Parthenon Pavilion. She attended Smyrna Assembly and River of Life Church. She loved to cook and found great joy being with her grandchildren. Mrs. Key is survived by her husband, Dr. John Key of Smyrna; daughter, Jennifer Key of Woodbury; son, Jeff (Cindy) Key of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Joshua and Jacob Key; sister, Pauline Dawson of Grayling, Michigan; nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 29, 2008 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday January 30, 2008 at Murfreesboro Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Coble officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family asks memorial donations be made to Alzheimer's Association, Mid South - 4205 Hillsboro Pike, Suite 216, Nashville, TN 37215-3439 Phone 615-292-4938.
