Burma Lee Jones Powell., 84 of Murfreesboro passed away Monday, November 26, 2012 at Community Care of Rutherford County. Mrs. Powell was born in Ft. Payne, AL to the late Virgil and Alma Jones and was a longtime resident of Chattanooga. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Chattanooga. She was a graduate of Fort Payne High School and attended Business College in Birmingham, AL. She was a longtime member and served on the staff of Red Bank Baptist Church in Chattanooga for forty years.
Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Giles Ernest Powell, and sister, Gail Leath. She is survived by her daughter, Pam (Todd) Taylor of Murfreesboro; grandson, Taylor Lowe of Murfreesboro; brother in law, Lewis "Sonny" Leath of Gaylesville, AL; aunt, Dean Chastain of Blue Ridge, GA; niece, nephews, and cousins.
Burial will be Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 1:00pm at Middle Tennessee State Veteran's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers family ask for donations be made to First Baptist Church Mission Fund or Red Bank Baptist Library.
