Barbara Jean Johnson, 66 of Murfreesboro, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Mrs. Johnson was born in Detroit, MI. She was a caregiver and a member of Turning Point Assembly of God. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie Melton and Ray and Bernice Melton Jacobs; and sister, Faye Chomycia. She is survived by her husband, Johnny Johnson; daughters, Debra (Patrick) Hipp; Gayle Johnson-Naes; Lisa Johnson-Crawford all of Murfreesboro; brothers, Charles Melton of Lake Charles, LA; Louis "Snookie" Melton of Poplar Bluff, MO; sister, Inalee (Tom) Melton Craft of Clearwater, FL; 6 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be Friday, February 25, 2011 from 5:00pm - 8:00pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 11:00am at Murfreesboro Funeral Home with Pastor Johnny Lowrance officiating. Burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Patrick Hipp, Craig Naes, Scott Hipp, Troy Short, Alex Pena, Carlo Cuebas, Michael Wright, and Stephen Crawford. In lieu of flowers family ask for donations be made to the Down Syndrome Association of Middle Tennessee.
