Richard Griffin, 78 of Rockvale, affectionately known as "Pops" passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011 at his home. Rich was born February 13, 1933 in Chicago, IL to the late Murphy M. and Eva Griffin. He was an active member of Jehovah's Witnesses' South Murfreesboro congregation. He was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him.
Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Murphy E. Griffin. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Christine M. Griffin of Rockvale; sons, Richard D. (Darcy) Griffin of Schereville, IN; David A. (Michelle) Griffin of St. John, IN; daughters, Sharon L. (Donald) Baron of Merrillville; IN; Kathleen J. (Richard) Macknyk of Murfreesboro; son, Michael J. Griffin of Merrillville; IN; sister, Thelma White of Oak Harbor, WA; nine grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Memorial service will be Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 2:00pm at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses,1624 River Rock Blvd, with James L. Talley Jr. officiating.
