Obituary of Ronda Echols

Ronda S. Echols, age 82, of Murfreesboro, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2007. She was a native of North Carolina and a resident of Rutherford County since 1975. She retired from York VAMC in 1988 as night nursing supervisor. She trained at Dorthea Dix Nursing School during WWII and was a member of the Cadet Nursing Corps. Following the war, she worked for Ralph S. Morgan, MD in Sylva, NC and also at the Cherokee (NC) Indian Hospital. She transferred to York VAMC in 1975. She was a member of Barfield Baptist Church and was an avid gardener. Mrs. Echols was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, John A. Echols, parents, Joseph Erastus Stimpson and Edna Lucille Shoaf Dorsett. She is survived by a son, J. Arthur (Susan) Echols, Jr. of Murfreesboro; sisters, Euphia Waller of Raleigh, NC and Reba Dull of Lewisville, NC; 4 grandchildren, Shawn (Lora) Wright, Kati (Tripp) Davis, Jessica Wright and Andrew Wright, 2 great grandchildren, Jackson Wright and Logan Davis, all of Murfreesboro; 2 nephews and a niece. Those wishing may send condolences online at www.murfreesborofuneralhome.com Graveside services will be Tuesday 2:00 p.m., October 23, 2007 at PE Moody Memorial Gardens in Sylva, NC. Visitation with the family will be 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 21, 2007 at Murfreesboro Funeral Home, 145 Innsbrooke Blvd, Murfreesboro 615-896-2229.
