Obituary of Harold Edwin Tennant

Harold Edwin “Hal” Tennant, 83 of Christiana, TN passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. He was born in Camden, New Jersey on November 27, 1940, to Edith Larick and Howard Tennant. The family eventually moved to Stewart Manor, New York where Hal graduated from Sewanhaka High School. From there he moved to Oklahoma State University to study animal husbandry. He graduated with his degree and eventually went on to work in veterinarian pharmaceutical sales for many years. Hal was very diverse in his lifetime careers which included owning his own printing business. He also worked in real estate, mortgages, banking, and agriculture publications. At a young age Hal started playing the guitar. Self-taught in the beginning, eventually he took formal lessons and developed a special talent for music. After graduating college, he formed a rock and roll group “The Preachers” who would eventually go on to produce a record. Hal kept in touch with his old band mates over the years and had a Preacher reunion in 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Edith Larick Tennant. Hal is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Donna Holden Hayes Tennant, six children Laura, Linda, Michael, Judith, Sarah, Adam, his brother Tony and stepchildren, Sean and Doug. For the last 20 years, Hal called Murfreesboro, Tennessee his home. Hal will be greatly missed by many friends and family. He was called loving, humble, trustworthy, loyal, and had an easy-going attitude. He had a passion for genealogy, music, and especially old family stories. He was an avid storyteller and a great resource for cherished history and politics. A graveside service will be held at Miller Cemetery in Christiana, TN on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 10am.
