Obituary of Joe B Morton

Joe B. Morton, age 85 of Christiana, TN passed away at his home surrounded by his family and friends. He was born in Rutherford County and was the son of the late Minus and Myrtle Morton. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Hiley Morton; Roy Morton; Tommy Morton; Dudley Morton; sisters, Margaret Manus; Emma West; Lois Perry; longtime friend, Janie Armstrong; and his beloved dogs, Pabst and Speck. He is survived by his brother, Donald Morton; nieces and nephews, Terri Bagsby; Donna Forth; Joe Morton; Randy Morton; Becky Wright; Brian Perry; Carol Woodruff; Denise Sissom; Valerie Morton; Jimmy Donald Morton; Russell Morton; Dale Fletcher; Susan Taylor; Cheryl Barlow; Curtis Manus; Clayton West; Mike West; Mark West; Jimmy West; Barbara McCullough; brother-in-law, Lewis Perry; sister-in-law, Virginia Morton; Rachel Morton; friend Linda Davis; and many beloved extended family. Joe served time in the US Army. He lived in Michigan for 42 years working at General Motors, Ford Motor Company, and Central Transport. He was a member of the Grand Lodge of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers. He was of Baptist faith. After retiring, he moved back to Tennessee to live out his retirement years. Visitation with the family will be held at Murfreesboro Funeral Home on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 10am – 12pm with the service to follow at 12pm in the chapel. Interment will follow at Lovvorn-Morton Cemetery with Chaplain Brett Stewart officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
