David Earl Simpson Sr., age 80 of Murfreesboro, TN passed peacefully on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on April 27, 1943, in Marked Tree, AR to the late Claudy E. and Edith Harvey Simpson.

Also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Cortney Clementz, and brother, Brian Simpson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Carol Louise Pharris Simpson; daughters, Stephanie (Gerald) Slemp; Tracy (Ed) Clementz; son, David Earl (Trina) Simpson Jr; grandchildren, Dana (John) Zett; Cory (Isabella) Clementz; Sara Slemp; James Clementz; Kierstyn Simpson; Casey Clementz; Nathaniel Simpson; Jenny Clementz; great grandchildren, Juliet Zett; Caroline Zett; and Lily Slemp; aunt, Kaye (Pete) Harvey Wyckoff; niece, Christine Simpson; nephews, Brian Simpson II; Richard Simpson; and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

David served in the U.S. Army. He retired from General Motors in Flint, Mi after 30 years. He was an avid fastpitch softball player, a scout master with the Boy Scouts, President of the AARP in Michigan and Tennessee, loved watching sports, but most of all loved spending time with his family and friends.

Visitation with the family will be held at Murfreesboro Funeral Home on Monday, March 18, 2024, from 4pm – 8pm. Service will be Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 2pm. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
