Doretta Michelle Dodson, age 53 of Murfreesboro, TN passed away on Monday, January 15,2024 surrounded by her family.

Born on December 21, 1970 in Nashville, TN to Tommy McClurkan and Dorothy Bingham.

Preceded in death by her son, John Benjamin Harrison; father, Tommy McClurkan; grandparents, Russell and Marie Moore; Brooks and Mattie McClurkan; and stepfather, Elvis Bingham.

She is survived by her loving husband, Rich Dodson; daughter, Kayla (Paul) Thomason; sons, Bailey Dodson; Riley Dodson; grandson, Holden England; granddaughter, Audriana Thomason; mother, Dorothy Bingham; sister, Tonya (John) Silverstein; brother, Kevin (April) McClurkan; niece, Makenah McClurkan; in-laws, David (Janet) Varner; Willard (Helen) Dodson Jr.; and numerous aunts; uncles; and cousins.

Visitation with the family will be held at Murfreesboro Funeral Home on Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 11am – 3pm. A Celebration of Life service to follow at 3pm with Bishop David Varner officiating.

Doretta loved listening to her husband play his guitar. She loved playing games with the family, Nascar, loved the Titans, and loved watching Alabama win championship games. Doretta enjoyed going on vacation to the beach and the lake. She loved watching her grandson play sports. She was a nurturing and loving caregiver but most of all she loved her family.

The family would like to thank Ascension St Thomas - Rutherford and Alive Hospice of Murfreesboro for the comfort and care they showed during this time.
