Barbara Lynn Ellis, age 74 of Shelbyville, TN went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 18, 2023.

Barbara was born July 24, 1949, to the late Ralph Woodard Petty Sr. and Mary Jane Moore Petty.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, James Odell Ellis Jr.; brothers, Ralph “Woody” W. Petty Jr., and Malcolm Franklin Petty.

Mrs. Ellis was a member of Bible Presbyterian Church in Shelbyville, TN. She was lovingly known as Aunt Bee by everyone.

She is survived by her sisters, JoAnn (Sam) Hughes of Murfreesboro; Sandra (late Lanny) Bobo of Shelbyville; sister-in-law, Brenda Petty; nieces and nephews, Natalie (Wayne) Sanders; Neil (Holly) Hughes; Nyles (Chrissy) Hughes; Mary-Margaret (Jeffrey) Satterfield; Breon (Rob) Parker; Corey Petty; Crea Lynn Petty; Jamie (Margaret) Petty; Jonathan and Jared Smotherman; great nephews, Joey Palmer Hughes; Grant Hamilton Hughes; Rhett Carrington Hughes; Woody Petty; Eli Petty; uncles, Johnny Moore; Roger Moore; and numerous cousins; and SCHS Class of 1967.

Visitation with the family will be held at Murfreesboro Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, from 11am – 1pm with the services to follow at 1pm in the chapel. Interment will follow at Rosebank Cemetery in Flat Creek Community, 191 New Herman Road, Shelbyville, TN 37160.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shelbyville-Bedford County Public Library in Shelbyville, TN or to a charity of your choice.
