Obituary of Harvey Canup

Harvey Canup, 90 of Murfreesboro, went to be with his heavenly Father on Friday, February 4, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Canup was born in Mermet, Illinois to the late William Caleb Canup and Rosa Eller Parks Canup. He was a veteran of the United States Air Corps and a dedicated member of World Outreach Church. Throughout his life he was a mentor to many youth and was thought of as "Dad" to many. He loved music and photography. As quoted by his family, "Grandpa and Grandma just seemed to love everybody."
Mr. Canup was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Herman, Ray, Homer, Willard, Micah and Lewis; sister, Edith Comer. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, A. Lillian Canup; son, Terry (Janet) Canup of Las Cruces, NM; daughter, Barbara (Steve) Currence of Murfreesboro; nephew, Gary (Beverly) Canup of Warren, MI; grandchildren, Tiffany (Steve) Jones and Stephanie Currence, both of Murfreesboro, Capt Ross Canup of Schopp, Germany and Clair Canup of Las Vegas, NV; great grandchildren, Cooper and Lyndsey Jones; sister in law, Alberta Canup of Metropolis, IL; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be Monday, February 7, 2011 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 m at Murfreesboro Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home with Pastor Allen Jackson officiating. Burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with military honors.
