Obituary of John LeRoy Catron

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John Catron, 80, of Murfreesboro, died on May 27th, 2023 after a short, unexpected illness. He is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Phyllis, daughter Jennifer (Jeff) Farlow, son Kirk (Carrie Beth) Catron and three grandchildren, Blaine, Charleigh Ann and Carrigan, all of Murfreesboro, his brother, Ron (Sharon) McClughen of Fairfield Glade and sister Jane (David) Rule of Peoria, IL. He is preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Ruth and Harley McClughen, his father and stepmother, Leslie Ray and Wilma Catron. John was born on August 30, 1942 to Leslie and Ruth in Frankfort, Indiana. John attended Frankfort High School and was passionate about his family and its ancestry. After graduating high school, John met and married Phyllis (Huff) and they started their life together in West Lafayette, Indiana in 1968. John served in the US Army from 1964 until 1970. John worked for 48 years in sales and management. He most recently retired as manager of WT’s Fuel Stop & Markets. Anyone who knew John knew that he was wonderful. He had an immense passion for genealogy and was always a guaranteed source of laughter. You could always find him walking for exercise, eating lunch with his buddies, at a local sporting event or out in his yard with his bird feeders and beautiful plants. While we will miss so many things about our Poppy, we celebrate the 80 (almost 81) years he lived an amazing life. He was a phenomenal man, and we all hope to only live half as well as he did.
