Timothy Paul Tidwell, age 67 “The Waving Man” passed away on Monday, April 4, 2023 and is waving in Heaven.
Paul is survived by his brother Mark (Peggy Bishop) Tidwell, niece Christina Leake, nephews Ryan Tidwell and Andrew Tidwell, aunt Dee Byrn, grand niece Sadie Haire.
Article in the DNJ “On a warm spring afternoon, Paul Tidwell still took his perch in front of his family’s home on Old Nashville Highway near Florence Road. Seated underneath a shade tree, Paul waves at every vehicle that passes. There are honk, hollers and hellos from many of the dozens of vehicles that whiz by his house. “I like to wave,” said Paul, grinning as he waved, “That’s what I do every day. I need to Wave.” For nearly 40 years this special needs man has been waving to a loyal fan base. On most days he’ll see 75 or so cars, or more if it’s busy.”
His family moved to Oak Ridge, TN 7 years ago and his friends have missed seeing him wave at them as they passed by.
Visitation with the family will be 11:00am until 1:00pm Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Blackman United Methodist Church, 4380 Manson Pike, Murfreesboro, TN 37129, with the funeral service at 1:00 pm. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Nashville, TN.
Memorials may be made to the Special Olympics.
