Obituary of Gary Scott Brown

Gary Scott Brown, of Portland, TN died unexpectedly in his home on March 12, 2023, at the age of 52. Scott is survived by his parents; Gary and Judy Brown, his children, Hailee (Ryan) Stocks and Amelia Brown of Murfreesboro. He is also survived by his fiancée Amanda Garner and her children of Portland. Preceding him in death was his grandparents, Edwin and Bernice Shelton, and Richard and Eula Brown. Scott was born in Murfreesboro on March 3, 1971. His love for helping others led him to pursue a career as a Critical Care Paramedic. He graduated from the University of Alabama – Huntsville Paramedic Program in 1992. He then furthered his education and received his Bachelor of Arts in Management from Trevecca Nazarene University in 2007. Scott also taught the future EMT’s at Vol State and Columbia State. He worked for Rutherford County EMS for 25 years and First Call for the last five years, Scott was a devoted father and Christian. He loved his family and enjoyed grilling, watching the Tennessee Vols, and home projects. he had a true passion for helping others. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him. Visitation with the family will be held at Murfreesboro Funeral Home on Thursday, March 16, 2023 from 5:00 to 8:00pm. Chapel services will be Friday, March 17, 2023 at 11:00am with interment to follow at Rosehill Memorial Gardens in Tullahoma, TN.
