Obituary of Lora Denise Clanton

Please share a memory of Lora to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lora Denise “Neesa” Clanton, age 65 passed away Thursday, December 15, 2022. Preceded in death by her parents Felix and Earlene Barnes and brother Brian Barnes. Survived by husband Cecil Clanton III; sons Brandon and Daniel Clanton. Mrs. Clanton is also survived by her sister, Liz Barnes. Neesa was a good friend, and not just a mother. We enjoyed many restaurants together and would go on "food adventures" together to find new places; particularly favoring sushi. Neesa helped support both Brandon and Daniel's education all through college at MTSU and made sure they were on task. She supported both sons in finding their employment as well. Throughout her time with us, she had a lot of hobbies and interests: She was a painter and creative. Baking and cooking were also her passion and she was even known as the "Cake Lady" at the church she attended. Neesa was an amazing gardener and loved digital photography. She also was a friend to the animals and cared for the family cats. As homemaker, she cared a lot for the Clanton family. She was very spiritual and enjoyed attending Native American pow-wows. Her nickname Neesa she adopted during our trip to Sedona Arizona; it means "grandmother moon" in Seneca Indian. At home, she gathered our family in the evening to watch TV shows for Family Time. Our family will continue her traditions. Brandon also spent time teaching Neesa how to play Animal Crossing. Neesa enjoyed this game and other calm games. Our family shared fossils at the museum in multiplayer. She later gained interest in trying other games as well. We all enjoyed our conversations together about the games we played. In 2019, Neesa survived both breast cancer and uterine cancer. Our family were there for Neesa during these challenging times. Neesa was always a believer that she could pull through by using power of prayer and her guardian angels. For two more years she was happy and before she suddenly passed of natural causes, Neesa left with parting words to Brandon: "I'm going to sleep, but if I don't wake up, I want you to know that I appreciate everything you have done for me and I love you." Brandon responded: "I love you too." We will cherish our memories of you forever Neesa. With all the love on our hearts, The Clanton Family Visitation with the family will be 11:00am until 2:00pm Monday, December 19, 2022 at Murfreesboro Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 2:00pm.
