Obituary of Emmie Frances Downing

Emmie F. Downing, age 78, was called to heaven on Saturday, September 10, 2022. She passed away surrounded by love and family at home. Emmie was born in Murfreesboro on August 30, 1944 to the late Vernie and Ruby Thelma (Crick) Harrell. She was a beloved mother, "mamall", friend and member of the Church of God. Emmie loved to hand sew, embroider, quilt and generously donated numerous items to help the church. She made many things and taught a great deal to her children and grandchildren. She loved to watch Westerns, old TV shows (such as Murder She Wrote, Matlock, Chips, etc.), and Hallmark movies.
Emmie was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Eddie Wayne Downing Sr.), sisters (Ruth and Minnie Bell), brothers (Johnie, Vernie Jr, and Grover).
She is survived by her brother Clifford Harrell, sister Dimple Fields, children: Renee (Monty Sr.) McCoy of Murfreesboro, Tn; Eddie (Regina) Downing of Murfreesboro, Tn; and Margaret (Steve) Morgan of Edmonton, Ky. Grandchildren and great grandchildren: Brittany (Cody) Austin [Matthew, Eric, Paige], Monty McCoy Jr. [Lilly, Cadence, Brooklyn], Beth (Michael) Clark [Lillith], Lee Morgan [Steven, Maggie], and Angela (Chris) Mobley [Chris Jr.].
Emmie was loved by many and touched the hearts and lives of everyone she met. She will be greatly missed. Revelations 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. John 16:22 And ye now therefore have sorrow, but I will see you again and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
A Graveside service for close family and friends will be held on September 13, 2022 9:00 a.m.- 9:30 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, 519 Greenland Dr., Murfreesboro, Tn.
