Obituary of Billie Smith

Billie Joe Smith, 82, of Murfreesboro passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. Mr. Smith was born in Martin, TN to the late Duell David and Ida Carnell Smith. He was a lineman for Henry County Public Utility before he was a Southern Baptist Minister for 40 plus years. During those years he was Chaplain for Tullahoma Police Department. The last church he served as a minister was College Street Baptist Church. He was a current member of Third Baptist Church. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Smith; daughters, Tammy (Larry) Coop of Murfreesboro; Kathy (Scott) Perry of Nashville; sons, Donnie (Freda) Smith of Martin; Eddie (Cathy) Smith of Memphis; brother, Bobby Smith of Clarksville; grandchildren, David Smith, Sammy Smith, Meredith Smith, Alex Perry, Katie Coop, and Jay Coop. Visitation with the family will be Friday, April 20, 2012 from 5:00pm - 8:00pm and Saturday, April 21, 2012 from 12:00pm - 2:00pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 2:00pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Lee officiating. Burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
