Dorothy (Dot) E. Thornton, age 79 of Murfreesboro, TN. passed away in Nashville, TN on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, after a brief illness.
Her entire world revolved around her only child Cynthia Michelle Powers, who survives her.
Dot was a graduate of Cohn High School and was retired from CRT, Custom Records and Tapes in Nashville, TN.
She enjoyed gardening, painting, decorating, shopping for that perfect antique, and spending time with family by both blood and friendship.
Dot was a member of the Church of Christ and a firm believer in prayer and faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Paul and Edna Thornton, sisters; Helen Taylor and Sherry Myles.
Also survived by her siblings; Liz Napolitano of New York, Jean Stewart of Georgia, Doug Thornton of Florida, Faye Holliday of Tennessee, Kerry Thornton of Tennessee, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Murfreesboro Funeral Home on Saturday, November 27, 2021, from 4pm – 8 pm and again on Sunday, November 28, 2021, from 11am – 1pm with services to follow at 1pm. Interment will be at Hilltop Cemetery in Alexandria, TN. with Kent Cripps officiating.
