Obituary of Michelle Susan Degenhardt

Michelle Susan Degenhardt (nee Anderson) died after a lingering illness on October 20, 2021 at her home in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She was born February 14, 1958 to Ronald J. and Aileen E. Anderson in Bay City, Michigan, where she spent her childhood. She attended Immanuel Lutheran School and Bay City Central High School, and studied music at Eastern Michigan University. Michelle began playing piano as a young child and loved music, especially the compositions of Rachmaninoff. She was a piano teacher for most of her adult life and was devoted to her students. She also enjoyed reading and antique shopping with her friend Patty Scalzo. She is survived by a sister, Colleen Anderson (Charleston, WV), her former husband and friend Scott Degenhardt, her sister-in-law Shelley Anderson (Bay City, MI), her step-children Megan Wiggins (Valdosta, GA) and Eric Degenhardt (Nashville, TN), her step-granddaughters Heather and Autumn Wiggins, and her two beloved pets, Cara and Gena. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Kent Anderson. Murfreesboro Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Remembrances may be left at the funeral home’s website.
