William Marvin "Bill" Naasz (73) of Shelbyville, TN, passed suddenly December 31, 2020, from complications of pneumonia.
Services Sunday, January 3, at Abiding Faith Lutheran Church, 10411 Old Nashville Hwy, Smyrna, TN. Visitation 2-4, funeral service at 4, fellowship to follow. Services will be livestreamed Worship Options:

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Delcie Naasz. He is survived by wife Beatrice “Bea,” sons Brian (Heather) Naasz and Bruce (Mira) Naasz and daughter BillieJo (Butch) Sobiek, grandchildren Rachel (Ben) Kohls, Elise Kroger, Andrew Kroger, David (Nina) Sobiek, and Wyatt (Taylor) Sobiek, great-grandchildren Orson Kohls, Aurelius Sobiek, and Luke Sobiek (whose arrival he was eagerly looking forward to).
Bill was born and raised in Mobridge, SD. He lived and worked a few years in Faulkton, SD, before moving his family back to Mobridge, SD. In 1978, Bill began his career working for BNSF Railroad, moving the family to Mandan, ND. He retired from the railroad in 2000 after injuring his leg in a motorcycle accident. He continued to ride his motorcycle, enjoying the freedom of the road. In 2009, Bill and Bea moved to Shelbyville, TN, to be near their children and grandchildren. For the past several years, Bill has assisted Santa at Christmastime by filling in for him in personal appearances. He enjoyed those times talking to the children.
