Doris Mae Newman, age 95, passed away October 20, 2020. She was at home until the end and lovingly taken care of by her family. Doris Mae was born May 8, 1925 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to George and Sammie Rayn. She married the love of her life, Harvey Newman, June 27, 1942. He preceded her in death on January 8, 2012. She was a 32 year breast cancer survivor and one tough woman. Her life was a living example of Ephesians 4:32, "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, as God also forgave you in Christ". To know Doris Mae, or "Nana" as she was better known, was to know the meaning of unconditional love and what the bonds of family truly represent. Doris Mae is survived by her children, Joyce (Benno) Langehenke, Martha Gibson, and Kenneth (Jessie) Newman all of Murfreesboro. Two grandchildren, Kimberly (Chris) Hackney of Murfreesboro and Tyler (Jennifer) Newman of Nashville. Three great grandchildren, Rancie (Torrey) Ervin of Christiana, Kenya Hackney and fiance' JD Davenport of Murfreesboro and her youngest at 2 months, Nora Newman of Nashville. One great great granddaughter, Kinsley Edwards of Christiana. As well as one sister Marie (Charles) Trail and her niece Lori Trail all of Murfreesboro.
