Obituary of Dan Jones

Dan Jones, age 67 of Rockvale, TN passed from this life on July 19, 2020. He was born on February 10, 1953. He is survived by his daughter; Angie (Earl) Steagall, son; Corey Jones, granddaughter; Olivia Steagall, step granddaughter; Hannah Steagall, grandson; Cole Jones, mother; Clara Jones Weaver, brother; Jerry (Eloise) Jones, many nieces and nephews, his beloved dogs Gizmo and Babe, an abundance of friends. He is preceded in death by his father; Tom Jones, brothers; Tommie Jones, Bobby Jones, Fred Jones, Andrew Jones, sisters; Lillie Bond, Blanche McCulloch and Cora Jones. Dan was most proud of his children and grandchildren. He shared a very close relationship with them and rarely went more than a day or two without seeing them. He loved all of his family members and shared an amazing friendship with his siblings, nieces and nephews. He was a true friend to many and always there to lend a helping hand when needed. He was a master of all things mechanical. He enjoyed working on motors, was known for his welding ability that was second to none, and he was truly a jack of all trades. Dan retired a couple years ago from his Tree Cutting business, Low Dollar Tree Surgery, that he ran with his son. This allowed him more time to work on his endless list of projects and help those he loved. Dan's work ethic simply couldn't be beat. Turkey shoots, dove hunts, fishing, gardening, and a good game of pool were all things that brought him joy. He had a passion for collecting guns, pocket knives, and anything antique. He enjoyed a good conversation, a southern cooked meal preferably with country ham, watching westerns, and all the simple pleasures of country life. Dan was baptized into Christ on June 19, 1983. He shared his faith often with the many people he helped through AA. His 31 years of sobriety was an accomplishment he took great pride in and was a testament to his commitment to God and his family. A celebration of life will be held at Murfreesboro Funeral Home on Saturday, July 25, 2020. Visitation with the family will be from 12:00 - 3: 00 with the service following at 3:00.
