Obituary of Joseph Nicholas Smith
On August 20, 2019, Joseph N. Smith, loving husband and father of six children passed away at the age of 92. Joe was born in Buffalo New York on April 22, 1927 to Leslie and Majorie (O’Rourke) Smith. Joe is survived by his wife of 71 years Gladys (Zelasko) sons David (Valeria) Smith of Mt Juliet, Douglas (Edith ) Smith of Murfreesboro, Joseph Smith Jr. of Windsor CA and daughter Amy (Doug) Kurak of Denver CO. He is preceded in death by son William Smith and daughter Marjorie Smith.
He was a proud grandparent of Dawn, Nick, Marshall, Ben and Ethan. He served in the U. S. Navy Pacific Theater during WWII. Joe attended American Television Institute,the first TV repair school in the country, worked for 15 years as an electrical engineer, worked as a computer programmer for the State of Tennessee, and owned and operated Shell Service Stations for 14 years. He loved science, mathematics, was a Scout Master for many years and a member of St. Rose of Lima Church.
