Obituary of Dr. Marcus A. DeSio

Marcus Antonio DeSio, M.D., of Dallas, Texas, born on August 31, 1955 in Larned, Kansas, to Christine DeSio and the late Francis DeSio D.O., passed away at age 63 on February 1, 2019 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

 

Marcus graduated from D.W. Carter high school, Dallas Texas in 1973, Mountain View Junior College, Dallas Texas with an Associates Degree in Biology 1975, University of Dallas Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology in 1977, and Cebu Doctors' College of Medicine, Cebu City Philippine Islands with a Doctorate of Medicine in 1984. He did an Internal Medicine Internship at St. Francis Hospital, Evanston Illinois from 1986-1987, followed by Internal Medicine Residency at St. Francis Hospital, Evanston Illinois from 1987-1989. He then completed a Neurology Residency at Southern Illinois University from 1989-1992. He opened his first medical practice and worked as a solo practitioner while co-managing the local Muscular Dystrophy Clinic in Jopiln Missouri from 1992-1998.  In 1998 the family relocated to Jackson Tennessee where he worked in multiple emergency rooms in the West Tennessee area. In 2006 he and his wife opened Greystone Medical Clinic and practiced there until 2014. In 2014 the family relocated to Middle Tennessee and Marcus continued working in local emergency rooms, until he retired. 

 

Marcus was the beloved husband of Cindy DeSio, they married August 6th 1988 at Saint Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Evanston Illinois.  He is survived by his sons, Nicholas DeSio and Alexander DeSio; Nicholas' significant other Lilian Boyd, all of Murfreesboro Tennessee. Mother in Law Jeanne Cinkus of Saint Charles, Illinois and brother in law Ronald Cinkus of Darien Illinois. Brothers, Francis DeSio M.D. and Gregory DeSio of Texas; sister, Sabrina Eller of Arizona; nieces, Erica (Michael) Gonzalez, Christina Eller, and Elizabeth (Blaine) Loomis; and nephews, Laddie (Felicia) DeSio and Justin (Mandy) Eller. He also leaves behind his greatly loved cats, Kumar and Tom and his English Mastiffs, Baxter and Remy.  

 

Marcus loved music, watching soccer, cooking, he was an avid reader and loved to learn, he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his dogs, while practicing medicine Marcus loved taking care of people and educating them.

 

Friends and family can pay their respects at the visitation, officiated by Pastor Mack Strange, on Saturday, February 9 at 1:00 p.m. at Fellowship United Methodist Church, 2511 New Salem Highway, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, 37128. Memorial service to follow at 3:00 p.m.
