Obituary of Darrell Ray Decker
Darrell Ray Decker, 82, Murfreesboro, TN, went to be with Jesus on June 16, 2018. He will be missed by his son, Devan (Conni) Decker of Murfreesboro TN and daughter, Verla Decker of Rock Hill, SC, 8 grandchildren: Christina, Joshua, Erin, Angela, Damien, Andrew, Raymond & Jillian, and 14 great-grandchildren. His wife, Gloria (Runck) Decker, preceded him in death March 3, 2014.
Born February 2, 1936 in Woodland, IL, to John F. Decker and Helene (Anderson) Decker, he graduated from Watseka High School in 1954. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Dale (Kay) Decker and Dean (Karen) Decker.
Darrell was an Army X-ray technician and involved in Boy Scouts, the Bourbonnais Friendship Festival, Good Sam's Camping Club and he retired from Turk Furniture in Kankakee after 20 years of service. Darrell was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan, loved fishing, camping and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and all the new babies as they came along.
A private memorial will be held for the family in Murfreesboro, TN. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association in honor of Darrell's life.
