Obituary of Paris Allen Kennedy
Paris Allen Kennedy, age 93, of Murfreesboro, passed away Friday, December 8, 2017. A native of Henderson County, TN, he was the son of the late James Kennedy and Lillian Washburn Kennedy. He was also preceded in death by his wife Gradie King Kennedy, and sisters Telma Kennedy White and Edith Kennedy.
Mr. Kennedy is survived by his dear friend of the last 14 years, Mary Hayes, and her family. He is also survived by a step-son, Harry Grizzle of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and a step-daughter, Janie Martin of McMinnville, TN. Numerous nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Kennedy was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church, in Murfreesboro. In his earlier years he was a member of the Baptist faith, preaching at churches throughout Middle Tennessee and attending at Garrison Fork Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Gallatin.
He served honorably in World War II with Patton’s 3rd Army at the Battle of the Bulge where he received a Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged a Master Sargent, earning two Bronze Stars. He was a proud member of the DAV, Disabled American Veterans.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 17, 2017 from noon until 2, with funeral services at 2 at the chapel of Murfreesboro Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Harding officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Woodbury, TN.
Pallbearers will be Mark Blackwelder, Aaron McKenzie, Quentin Beckwith, Andrew Brogli, Dave Wideman and Dan Sellars.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
