Obituary of Alan Ray Harrison

Alan Ray Harrison of Murfreesboro went to be with Jesus on Saturday, December 2, 2017. He was the son of the late Buster and Ester Harrison of Preston, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his brother Gary, an infant son Richard, and an infant grandson Seth Alan Harrison. He is survived by his wife Beverly Trinkle Harrison of 63 years and a son, Bruce Allan Harrison of Murfreesboro.

He was a Christian and a member of Third Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was a long-time member of the choir.

He moved his family from Bakersfield, Calif., to Murfreesboro in 1977 when he became Publisher of The Daily News Journal. He retired in 1998 from the Murfreesboro City School System where he served as Director of Maintenance.

He was a lifelong musician, gun and motorcycle enthusiast.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alive Hospice of Murfreesboro and Third Baptist Church Building Fund of Murfreesboro, TN.

The family thanks the wonderful nurses and staff of both Tennessee Oncology and Sarah Cannon Cancer Center for their love and support during Alan’s long illness and also thanks to Third Baptist Church staff and congregation for their love and support.

A memorial service will be held at Murfreesboro Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 3:00 pm with visitation from 1:00 – 3:00pm with Reverend Dr. Mark Moore and Reverend Steve Hutson officiating. Murfreesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services 615-896-2229
