Obituary of Thomas Joseph Hatter
Thomas Joseph Hatter went home to be with the Lord on Sunday July 23, 2017.
Born on December 19, 1951 in Gouverneur, NY to the late Melvin James Hatter and Dorothea Krebs Hatter, he moved around a lot through his childhood and gained great knowledge and experience of each place he resided.
Tom studied psychology at Emory University and earned his MBA in finance from Georgia State University. He valued traveling, learning, and understanding, and he developed a genuine ability to speak to any subject with anyone he met. He always sought a challenge. To him, work was never work - he loved his career and enjoyed the people with which he connected. He led as Director of Construction and Facilities, YUM Brands; Director of Existing Store Portfolios, Starbucks Coffee Company; Vice President of Engineering, Construction, and Facilities, Marsh Supermarkets; Portfolio Maintenance Director, Avalon Bay Communities; Director of Construction, Buffets, Inc.; Director of Construction and Facilities, Carlisle Corp. & Lyfe Kitchen; and finally Director of Construction, Checkers Restaurants.
However, his biggest role was as husband, father, and papa. He loved God first and foremost, and from that love stemmed a sacrificial, faithful, and enduring commitment to his family. He will be dearly missed by his wife of over 39 years, Belinda Hatter, son, Nicholas and Kathryn Hatter, daughter, Amanda and Caleb Poirrier, and grandchildren, Skylee, Nola, Solomon, Penelope, Adelaide, Wren, and Jude Thomas. He is also survived by his brother, David and Denise Hatter and their three children Alicia and Kevin Weir, Michael, and Kevin, and his sister-in-law Margaret Hatter. He is preceded by his brother James Hatter.
Never one for much fanfare, Tom did not want a public memorial. As his family honors his memory, we want to hear from each of you how Tom has influenced your life. Please feel free to share any thoughts or memories about Tom with his family below or in written form to Belinda Hatter: 6730 Romain Dr. Acworth GA 30102.
Thank you for your warmth and kindness.
"Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful."
