Obituary of Joseph Ervin Amos

Joseph Ervin Amos (PoPo), 79 of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away on March 15, 2017 in Murfreesboro.
Visitation will be held at Murfreesboro Funeral Home on March 19, 2017 from 2:00 pm - 5:00pm with a private family memorial service to be held later.
Joe was born in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Jack and Mildred Amos on August 18, 1937. He graduated from Blackwell High School in 1955. He went on to earn a Doctorate in Education (EdD) from Oklahoma State University. He is a retired Metropolitan Nashville Public School Educator.
Joe loved spending time with family and especially enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joe is survived by his wife Sherry Brown Amos, children; Janelle Heathman (Elmer), Scott Amos, Bonnie Sawyers (Roy), Josh Amos (Sandy), and D’Ann Cooper (Terry); brother Daniel Amos; grandchildren, Justin Wiser, Dustin Amos, Brittani Lloyd, Brennan Amos, Robbie Cooper (Kacie), Abby Callison (Jesse), Spencer Cooper (Tori), Trey Sawyers; great grandchildren, Kyli, Noah, Wyatt, Caleb, Mason, Jordan, Weston, Braxton and Ella.
Memorial donations may be made to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson St. Nashville, TN 37203 or alivehospice.org.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Michael Helton, Alive Hospice and the 4th floor staff at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital for their kindness and compassion.
