Obituary of Homer Richardson

Homer Lewis Richardson, 81, went to be with his Lord on January 16, 2011, after complications of pneumonia. He was born May 7, 1929 in Burlington, NC and lived most of his life in Murfreesboro. Homer was a faithful servant of God, a member of North Blvd Church of Christ, where he served as bookkeeper in his semi retired years.
He attended Elon College in Burlington, NC and served in the National Guard. He retired from Colonial Corp in Woodbury as Controller until it closed in 1994. Until his health started failing, he was an avid golfer. He had a love for airplanes and enjoyed flying his own for several years. Traveling became a hobby and he and Evelyn traveled at home and abroad.
He was preceded by his father, Sam C. Richardson who expired when Homer was an infant; mother, Arma Way Richardson Leath; one brother, Carl Samuel Richardson. He is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn Martin Richardson; son, Michael (Margaret) Richardson of Griffin, GA; daughter, Rebecca (Randall "Bubba") Jones of Murfreesboro; stepdaughters, Debbie Nunley of McMinnville, Denise Mason Jones of Fairview and Donna (Robert) Anderson of McMinnville; ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; sister in law, Mary Meeks of Morrison; brother in law, Joe Martin of McMinnville.
Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, January 18, 2011 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home with Bro. John Risse and Bro. David Young officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Grandsons will be pallbearers.
